.NET
.NET is both a business strategy from Microsoft and its collection of programming support for what are known as Web services, the ability to use the Web rather than your own computer for various services. Microsoft's goal is to provide individual and business users with a seamlessly interoperable and Web-enabled interface for applications and computing devices and to make computing activities increasingly Web browser-oriented. The .NET platform includes servers; building-block services, such as Web-based data storage; and device software. It also includes Passport, Microsoft's fill-in-the-form-only-once identity verification service.

Java
Java is a programming language expressly designed for use in the distributed environment of the Internet. It is used to create N-Tier web based applications. It enforces an object-oriented programming model. Java can be used to create complete applications that may run on a single computer or be distributed among servers and clients in a network. It can also be used to build a small application module or applet for use as part of a Web page. Applets make it possible for a Web page user to interact with the page.

PHP
PHP is a server-side, cross-platform, HTML embedded scripting language for creating dynamic web pages. PHP scripts can run on many different operating systems and Web servers. PHP is available for the two most popular Web server configurations (IIS running on Windows NT and Apache running on UNIX). PHP is capable of managing huge database-driven online environments. PHP is probably the most popular scripting language on the web. It is used to enhance web pages. PHP is especially lightweight and speedy. It offers excellent connectivity to many databases (and ODBC), and integration with various external libraries that let us do everything from generating PDF documents to parsing XML. The endless possibilities of the PHP scripting language and a great community of users have made it one of the most popular open-source languages. For all of those people living outside the UNIX world, Open Source means it doesn't cost anything. You can use it as much as you want and where you want, and nobody will ever charge you thousands of dollars for licenses and support.

Microsoft SQL Server
SQL Server is a relational database management system (RDBMS) from Microsoft that's designed for the enterprise environment. SQL Server is used to create desktop, enterprise, and web-based database systems. It is a database platform for large-scale online transaction processing (OLTP), data warehousing, and e-commerce applications; it is also a business intelligence platform for data integration, analysis, and reporting solutions. SQL Server 2005 includes a variety of highly precise, configurable security features. These features can empower administrators to implement defense-in-depth that is optimized for the specific security risks of their environment. Microsoft SQL Server is widely regarded as full-featured database systems on the market today. Microsoft SQL Server has 28% growth in market share.

Oracle
Oracle is a powerful relational database management system (DBMS), which runs on more than 80 platforms. It offers a large feature set. Introduced in the late 1970s, Oracle was the first database product to run on a variety of platforms from micro to mainframe. The Oracle database is Oracle's flagship product. Oracle database is used in Fortune 1000 corporations and by many of the largest Web sites. Oracle 8i and onward databases have support for Internet and Oracle 10g and onward databases have support for Grid Architecture/Computing.

MySQL
MySQL is an open source RDBMS that relies on SQL for processing the data in the database. MySQL provides APIs for the languages C, C++, Eiffel, Java, Perl, PHP and Python. In addition, OLE DB and ODBC providers exist for MySQL data connection in the Microsoft environment. A MySQL .NET Native Provider is also available, which allows native MySQL to .NET access without the need for OLE DB. MySQL runs on virtually all platforms, including Linux, Unix, and Windows. MySQL is used in a wide range of applications, including data warehousing, e-commerce, Web databases, logging applications, distributed applications, embedded applications and has become a popular alternative to proprietary database systems because of its speed and reliability. MySQL can run on UNIX, Windows and Mac OS. MySQL is developed, supported and marketed by MySQL AB. The database is available for free under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL) or for a fee to those who do not wish to be bound by the terms of the GPL. MySQL has gained 25% market share in overall database usage by developers in the last two years.
